The suspense continues in the saga for Canadian Gabriel Resources to begin the largest open-cast gold mine in Europe. Gabriel Resources looked to be heading for the finish line the past week as a Draft Law was passed to vote on the controversial project and permitting of the mine. However, this week, Prime Minister Victor Ponta made remarks that cast doubt on approval of the project. Gabriel Resources flung back with a threat of suing Romania for up to $4 Billion if the project was rejected. Heavy protests in the Romanian capital of Bucharest have continued to grow with even American celebrity Woody Harrelson siding with protestors. Will Romanian parliament approve the project paving way for Europe’s largest gold mine? Will the draft to approve the project be rejected before it even has a chance to reach parliament to be voted on? Will the protesting in Romania grow to a level that creates a tension to disapprove of the project? Stay tuned
