Making money investing in equities is actually quite easy. If you have the ability to be patient and wait for equity prices to reach undervalued levels, you can be a very profitable investor. The strategy is simple. Stay in 100% cash or U.S. Treasuries until equities reach bargain basement levels. Bargain basement level prices would be similar to what several equities were selling for in the market crash of 2007-2009. Simply holding cash and waiting for securities to reach these depressed levels and buying is the best strategy to being a profitable investor. It may take 1 year, 5 years, or even 20 years of waiting for this opportunity but the wait is well worth it. Capital should only be allocated at the most opportune time. We continue to stay 80 to 90% in cash here at Equinox Partners. We have the patience to wait until prices reach opportunistic levels.
